Halley is a commercial office development. The project involves the construction of three buildings measuring 3,500, 4,400, and 7,100 m² (ground floor plus three stories) and a shared parking garage with 500 spaces (ground floor plus five stories).
The solution involving a centralized production facility and a heating and cooling network was chosen for the following advantages:
- the use of local renewable energy sources: geothermal and solar power
- the pooling of heating and cooling resources, leading to optimization of the installed equipment as well as technical and energy performance
- freeing up roof space on buildings that would otherwise be occupied by conventional heating and cooling units (air-source heat pumps)
GEOTHERMAQ supported MIXENER throughout all phases of the project, from the feasibility study through to final acceptance.
The facility consists of a production well and an injection well, each 94 meters deep with a capacity of 80 m³/h, located 100 meters apart. Both wellheads will be located in a basement.
